Welcome back everyone. We're one quarter of the way to our 100th show. Regardless of when you jumped on, thanks for joining us on the ride.
On today's show, Babcock and I start out by talking about the most obvious Super Bowl halftime show performer that hasn't been chosen yet, and why they might be the perfect fit for the New Orleans Super Bowl. We'll then discuss Drew Brees and how quarterback megadeals can affect the buildup of a team. After that, Babcock and I will break down the Patriots roster and salary cap situation heading into this offseason.
Finally, at the end, we get into a discussion/debate about the recent news that the Saints have been giving out "bounties" for injuring players. How serious of a problem is this, what type of action should the commissioner take, and how should this punishment look in relation to the one the Patriots received for the infamous "Spygate".
This is probably the first time we've actually had intelligent, productive conversation past the one hour mark. So, I highly recommend enjoying this one all the way through. If you can, maybe download it on itunes and take it with you throughout your day.
NOTE: There is a glitch right around the one hour and 2 minute mark. There is about 30 seconds of audio missing where we wrapped up the free agency discussion and transitioned to talk of the Saints' bounty system. It picks up right after Babcock says that Greg Williams offered Saints players a large bounty to knock Kurt Warner out of a playoff game (and you'll hear it pick up with him saying that Warner did get injured).
Here is this week's humble offering:
You're hearing the Heartless Bastards opening and Meatloaf at the end.
