With the ninth pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select Ereck Flowers out of Miami (FL).
Position: Offensive Tackle
Measurables: 6’6”, 329 lbs, 34 ½” arm length, 9 ⅞” hands
Analysis:
A weight-room superstar who posted 37 reps on the bench press at the NFL Combine, the massive Flowers showcased his grit and durability in 2014 by missing just one game despite undergoing a surgical procedure to fix a knee injury in midseason. Prior to that, Flowers started every game of the 2013 season at left tackle and four games as a freshman on the right side.
Flowers’ big, athletic frame allows to lift and maul opposing defensive lineman along with linebackers on the second level. He is adept at using his hips, arms, and upper-body strength in concert to turn his man with ease while base blocking. As soon as he gets an inch while run blocking, he’s a lethal finisher who seals and drives with the best of them. Combing all of that will deft footwork and deceptive foot speed, Flowers has every physical gift necessary to be elite in this league.
