The Atlanta Hawks have been on the market since majority owner Bruce Levenson announced he would sell his controlling interest in the team in early September, and a new ownership group - headlined by former NBA All-Star Chris Webber - is interested.
Chris Webber is part of a potential ownership group that has registered interest to NBA about buying the Atlanta Hawks, sources tell Yahoo.

Former players becoming part owners of a franchise nothing new. NBA Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson is the face of the group that owns the Los Angeles Dodgers, while just last year another NBA All-Star (and future Hall-of-Famer) Shaquille O'Neal became part-owner of the Sacramento Kings.
It's unclear what Webber's role would be in this prospective ownership group. He currently lives in Atlanta and works as a basketball analyst for Turner Sports.
Levenson is selling his portion of the team after an email featuring racially sensitive remarks was leaked to the public.
