New reports from Frank Isola of the NY Daily News claim Carmelo Anthony told a friend he "believes in Phil [Jackson]", and will likely return to the New York Knicks.
Anthony has been torn between the Knicks, Lakers and Bulls, but has reportedly been swayed by Phil Jackson and encouragement from workout partner Kevin Durant. The Lakers have offered Anthony a four-year max contract and the Bulls are still working out how to acquire him in a sign-and-trade scenario, but the 5-year, $129 million offer on the table from New York would easily outdo both bids.
Anthony was originally expected to announce his destination on Monday, but then delayed that decision in hopes of finding out where LeBron James is headed. Anthony's goal was to play with LeBron in New York (with Jackson attempting to deal several players to make room), but it appears his mind is made up regardless.
