Kyriq McDonald was delivering pizzas two years ago. Now he's leading Missouri State's defense.

Kyriq McDonald doesn’t remember much after the ball was snapped.

With the early-September sun beating down and a future NFL tailback lined up on the other side, McDonald started to backpedal.

Then, darkness.

McDonald, then a starting defensive back at the University of Cincinnati, began convulsing on the field during the team’s second game of the 2019 season against perennial powerhouse Ohio State.

More than 100,000 fans at Ohio Stadium sat in stunned silence as McDonald was carted away and eventually taken to the hospital to be treated for a seizure.
