The Ole Miss Rebels rocketed their way into the national consciousness and to the top of the polls in 2014 with a 7-0 start, but losses in four of their last six games (including a 42-3 shellacking at the hands of TCU in the Peach Bowl) stopped the program's early momentum dead in its tracks. There's still plenty of talent here to make a complete turnaround this coming season, but there's still some things that need to be addressed as fall camp gets underway. Here's the 4 Biggest Questions For Ole Miss Football Heading Into Fall Camp.
4. Can The Offensive Line Work Its Way Back From Injuries?
Left tackle Laremy Tunsil is a likely impact NFL Draft pick, but he's working his way back from a fractured fibula suffered in the Peach Bowl against TCU this past New Year's Eve. That's the major question mark for a group of linemen dotted with injury rehabilitations and questions about long-term health. If the O-line can stay healthy, there's plenty to work with here in front of whoever wins the starting QB job.
3. Are Tony Bridges And Tee Shepard Ready?
The Rebels are without two All-Americans in the secondary heading into 2015, but defensive coordinator Dave Wommack has major faith in new corners Tony Bridges and Tee Shepard -- enough so that he shifte returning starter Mike Hilton to safety prior to the start of spring drills. Both Bridges and Shepard have the athletic tools, length and frames to compete at the SEC level. Fall camp will be the place to temper and direct their natural abilities.
2. Is This The Swansong For The 2013 Class?
Huge Freeze's 2013 recruiting class is widely regarded as one of the most talented recruiting classes in Ole Miss history. All-American defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche, the aforementioned Tunsil and a host of other impact players from that class could be on their way out of town after this season and off to the NFL. This is head coach Huge Freeze's chance to maximize the utility of these players, perhaps knocking on the door of the College Football Playoff.
1. Who's The Starting Quarterback?
Chad Kelly emerged as the favorite in spring ball thanks to his dynamic mix of arm strength, accuracy and explosiveness on the run. Kelly was gifted a second chance at Ole Miss after being dismissed at Clemson last April due to conduct detrimental to the team, and he'll have to shake off third-year sophomores Ryan Buchanan and DeVante Kincade in fall camp in order to utilize this do-over to full effect.
