The Ole Miss Rebels control their own destiny in the SEC West, and their next test comes Saturday at home against Arkansas. Here are three reasons why the Rebels will beat the Razorbacks on Saturday:
3) Arkansas has no answer for Laquon Treadwell
Treadwell has proven to be the Rebels' best player all season, catching 61 passes for 870 yards and six touchdowns. He's been especially effective of late, recording over 100 receiving yards and at least one touchdown in four straight games. Expect another big game against an Arkansas team that ranks 114th in the country against the pass.
2) Chad Kelly's development
Kelly has stayed out of the off-the-field spotlight so far in his time at Ole Miss, and that's fantastic news in the wake of his 2014 dismissal from the Clemson Tigers football program for "conduct detrimental to the team." From an on-the-field perspective, Kelly has been inconsistent but extremely effective. He leads the SEC with 2,856 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, and he should have plenty of opportunities for big plays against Arkansas' secondary.
1) Ole Miss' dominant defense is back
The defense figured it out last weekend against Auburn. Ole Miss looked uncharacteristically bad on that side of the ball against Memphis and Florida, but they've has returned to normal, giving up a combined 22 points in the past two games. Now that they've found their stride, expect them to shut down Arkansas' rushing attack.
