Your Miami football recruiting news update for September 18th:
3-star 2016 Deltona tight end and Miami Hurricanes commit Evan Hinson hasn't had a chance to watch much of the Canes during their 2-0 start to 2015, attributing that to both television reach and his current high school football schedule.
"The Bethune game wasn't on any T.V. network in my area so I didn't get to watch that," Hinson said. "I couldn't see the FAU game either because we were playing that same night. I know they beat both teams by a lot and now I'm going to the Nebraska game. I can't wait to be there because I haven't been down on a visit for awhile."
Regardless, Hinson is excited for his visit and seems pretty well-versed in just how Miami plans to utilize his skill set in what'll likely be an offense-only role, despite his work as a safety and defensive end at Deltona.
"I committed as a tight end but I'm a pretty natural receiver," Hinson said. "Since I'm tall, I've had opportunities to play both. I love getting up on a mismatch with linebackers because I know I can beat them in coverage. I should probably get stronger in the weight room but that's going to come with my work ethic."
Garnering comparisons to a young Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates, Hinson seems destined to out-play his current 3-star status when he finally hits campus at The U.
