BOCA RATON, Fla. – If the season started today, the starting running back for the Miami Dolphins would be 2015 fifth-round pick Jay Ajayi. The second-year player remains a mystery after playing nine games last season, with zero starts, and rushing for just 187 yards.
However, both Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill and Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey provided a vote of confidence Monday that Ajayi can carry the load if the team chooses to go in that direction. The team recently lost leading rusher Lamar Miller in free agency to the Houston Texans.
