The unranked and undefeated Memphis Tigers upset #13 Mississippi Rebels 37-24.
It's the Tigers' first win over a ranked team since they defeated Peyton Manning and Tennessee in 1996. It's the first time since 1976 that a ranked Ole Miss team has lost to a non-SEC, unranked team.
QB Paxton Lynch torched Ole Miss' defense, completing 39 of 54 passes for 384 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. Ole Miss had no answer for Lynch, and had no running game either. The Rebels picked up only 40 yards on the ground.
With the win, Memphis has a real chance to make a run at a College Football Playoff spot. The Tigers will likely be ranked next week, while Ole Miss will assuredly take a big drop. Memphis is now 6-0, while Ole Miss falls to 5-2.
