After losing head coach Justin Fuente to Virginia Tech, the Memphis Tigers have wasted no time targeting a replacement. The Tigers have offered the head coaching job to Missouri Tigers defensive coordinator Barry Odom.
Odom left Memphis before this season to take over as the Missouri defensive coordinator, so it's a bit of a homecoming for Odom. He spent three seasons at Memphis with Fuente and helped turn the program around. If Odom accepts the job, it would bring some stability to the program since nearly all of the players are familiar with Odom.
First reported by FootballScoop.com, Odom is expected to accept the offer. Odom interviewed for the Missouri job as well. However, ESPN is reporting that Memphis hasn't offered any coaches the job yet.
Odom spent nine years under Gary Pinkel at Missouri, working his way up from graduate assistant to safeties coach. After that, he went to Memphis before returning.
