After moving Doc Rivers to a coaching-only role, the Los Angeles Clippers have focused in on a new general manager. The team has offered the position to Michael Winger, an Oklahoma City Thunder executive.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Winger is expected to take the job. He joins a front office that features Jerry West as a consultant. Winger will report to Lawrence Frank, the new head of basketball operations.

Winger is just 37 years old and has been with the Thunder for the past seven years. He's served as the assistant general manager and team counsel in that time frame. He's also held an executive role with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Winger topped Chat Sports' list of executives most likely to become GMs from July. Winger had turned down general manager opportunities in the past. He's considered among the top young executives in basketball.
Winger knows the ins-and-outs of the CBA and salary cap as well as any executive in the league and had served as the point man on conversations with other teams thanks to contacts within the league. Winger comes from a business background, serving as the personal assistant to Ron Shapiro during his last year of law school and came into the NBA in 2005 as the director of basketball operations and general counsel for the Cavs.
