The Los Angeles Clippers have become the talk of the league under the guidance of former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers.
However, prior to the June 2013 trade that sent Rivers to the Clips, the team was in talks with current Lakers head coach Byron Scott for the franchise's coaching vacancy:

How serious were the talks actually?

Scott was originally drafted by the then-San Diego Clippers back in 1983. However, he was sent to the Lakers for guard Norm Nixon shortly after that, never logging a minute on the floor for the franchise.
