Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan will be one of the most sought-after free agents on the open market this offseason, and he'll demand a contract the Clippers might not be able to afford. Where is he most likely to end up playing next season?
5) San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio is one of the few teams that has enough cap space this offseason to sign someone to a max contract. They reportedly have their sights set on Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge, but if they strike out on him, they'd love to add a defensive player like Jordan to pair long-term with Kawhi Leonard.
4) Los Angeles Lakers
If the Clippers choose not to re-sign him - or offer him a lot less than he can get on the open market - Jordan could stick it to them by signing the Lakers. The move would allow Jordan to stay in the same city and play in the same arena, and the Lakers need anyone with talent.
3) New York Knicks
Jordan expressed his love for New York City after playing the Knicks in Madison Square Garden, but he's New York's second big man target behind Marc Gasol. If he passes on the Knicks or stays in Memphis, New York will go after Jordan with everything they have.
2) Boston Celtics
Boston has the cap space to give Jordan a max deal, and his elite rebounder and shot-blocking ability would automatically give the Celtics the defensive punch down low they desperately need. A more prominent role on a playoff team would be very appealing to Jordan, and Boston can offer him that.
1) Los Angeles Clippers
While every team around the league covets Jordan, the Clippers are in great position to keep him. He's a crucial part of Los Angeles' success, and with the salary cap rising to over $80 million in 2016-17 and over $100 million in 2017-18, they'd be fine with paying a lot of luxury tax for one season so they can keep Jordan for the foreseeable future.
