Injuries caused the Los Angeles Clippers to lose in the first round of the playoffs last year, but this team still has championship aspirations, and are looking to free agency to help them sure up some of their weaknesses. Here are three free agents they should target this summer:
3) Kent Bazemore
Bazemore developed into a true 3-and-D player in Atlanta, and that's exactly what the Clippers have been looking for at the small forward position. They've been unable to fill that role for several years now, and Bazemore could be the most effective player this current group has ever had at that spot. However, Bazemore will be coveted this offseason and might be too expensive for LA.
2) Arron Afflalo
Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers figure to be back with the Clippers, but Afflalo could be another addition to their backcourt rotation while helping with that small forward slot. He struggled late this year with the Knicks as he became more and more disgruntled, but can still contribute as a shooter and solid defender. Afflalo played at UCLA, making this a bit of homecoming signing.
1) Nic Batum
Batum would be the perfect fit in Los Angeles, as his playmaking, shooting and defensive abilities would give the Clippers the dream small forward to fit with their current lineup. Several other contenders plan to pursue the veteran and also view him as a missing piece, but there's no where else he fits better - even if he has to take a little less money to play there.
