The Kansas City Royals have been one of the most active team at the trade deadline, acquiring two rental players in pitcher Johnny Cueto from the Reds and utility player Ben Zobrist from the Oakland A's, both of whom were considered to be some of the best players on the market.
Even though there's still a couple more days until the trade deadline, GM Dayton Moore has said they believe the additions of Cueto and Zobrist give them more than enough to win the World Series:
“We always have a mandate to put the best team on the field. Certainly the play of our team and how our players have responded gives us more motivation to make moves, but we’ve always tried to do whatever could at the deadline to make our team better for the second half, even when we weren’t competing.”
