The Kansas City Royals are scouring the free agent market for starting pitching help, and it appears they may have landed on an option in free agent lefty Scott Kazmir.

Kazmir would upgrade a Royals rotation that finished 12th in the American Leagye with a 4.34 ERA in 2015. He finished with a 3.10 ERA, 7.6 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 during time split between the Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros.
The 31-year-old southpaw will likely command a deal of higher value than his previous two-year, $22 million pact with the A's. That may sit just fine with Kansas City's front office, however, considering they've got a void to fill with the likely departure of Johnny Cueto.
