Royals looking to trade for Rangers outfielder Alex Rios?

In today's Royals trade rumors and news update, the Kansas City Royals might be looking at Texas Rangers outfielder Alex Rios as a potential lineup upgrade before the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline.

According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, "Rios has drawn trade interest from several clubs looking for a right-handed bat. Kansas City, which could use a right-handed bat, has had a scout at the Rangers-Blue Jays series. Toronto is reportedly also interested in acquiring another right-handed bat."

Rios sprained his right ankle on Saturday after catching his cleat in the dirt while attempting to turn on a pitch from Toronto pitcher Marcus Stroman. X-rays were negative, however, and he could be back in the Rangers' lineup as soon as Monday.

Rios is currently hitting .302 for the MLB-worst Rangers with four home runs, 42 RBIs, and a league-leading eight triples. Adding that kind of consistency to the fray could be just what the Royals need to help make the climb back up the ladder in the AL Central and AL Wild Card races.
