In today's Royals rumors and news update, the Kansas City Royals have had scouts on hand at two Philadelphia Phillies games this week. In all likelihood, there is one name on the Royals' wishlist that has necessitated such attention.
According to Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia, the Royals' need for bullpen help has brought their eye to Phillies reliever Antonio Bastardo:
Royals scouted Phillies in ATL and again last night at home. Looking for bullpen help. Bastardo had a nice showcase with scoreless inn, 2 Ks

Bastardo has garnered interest from several teams so far and the 28-year-old lefty's recent success is only serving to raise his trade value in advance of the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline.
Currently pitching to a 3.27 ERA in 2014, Bastardo's 1.114 WHIP would qualify as the second best mark of his six-year MLB career. Couple that with the fact that he has given up just 25 hits in 44 innings pitched and the Royals' interest in the Dominican Republic native makes perfect sense.
