The Jacksonville Jaguars have been bad in recent seasons. They haven't posted a winning record since 2007. They ruined one rebuilding project by whiffing badly on Blaine Gabbert. The Jags put all their eggs in the Blake Bortles basket and are hoping he can lead them back to relevance. Unfortunately, the Jaguars have several overrated players populating their roster.
3. Dan Skuta
The Jaguars giving the 29-year old Skuta a 5-year, $20.5 million contract was one of the more perplexing offseason moves. He's a strong special teams player, but isn't great in coverage and is only average rushing the passer. The Jaguars could have easily found a younger and cheaper player to do what Skuta can do. They can cut Skuta after next season with no real cap hit and might end up doing so.
2. Luke Joeckel
Jacksonville needs Joeckel to develop into a blindside protector for Bortles. He hasn't done that yet. He missed most of his first season and didn't play consistently well enough last year. He could develop more this season, but he's not playing the way a starting left tackle should.
1. Blake Bortles
Bortles was actually pretty good on the ground last season, but that was it. He struggled throwing the ball and made too many mistakes. In fact, Pro Football Focus ranked him as the worst passing QB in the NFL last season. He didn't look anything like the No. 3 overall pick last year and is well behind Teddy Bridgewater. The good news is Bortles is still young and now has QB guru Greg Olson as his offensive coordinator. Bortles should continue to grow, and he better for Jacksonville's sake, but isn't very good right now.
