With the third pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars have selected Dante Fowler, Jr., out of Florida.
Dante Fowler Jr. (Florida)
Position: Defensive End / Outside Linebacker
Measurables: 6’3”, 261 lbs, 33 ¾” arm length, 9 ½” hands
Analysis:
A first-team All-SEC selection and Walter Camp second-team selection in 2014, Fowler led the Gators with 15 tackles for a loss and 17 quarterback hurries while also posting 8.5 sacks. A former five-star recruit, Fowler had 25 starts in 37 career games and was named a team captain in 2014 on his way to Florida defensive MVP honors.
Possessing an athletic frame and elite arm length, Fowler dropped 25 pounds during his collegiate career in order to increase his speed and explosiveness in space. An extremely versatile pass rusher who can create separation the edge either from a line spot or as a linebacker, Fowler’s top-tier length allows him to wrap up ball carriers from almost any angle either off the block or by darting inside with solid first-step quickness. His draft stock has soared as of late, and his strong hands and ability to set the edge with ease will likely justify his high draft placement as the years go on.
