Why an 'absolutely ridiculous' taunting penalty has Colts RB paying to play for team (for now)

UPDATE: The NFL fined Colts running back Benny LeMay $3,667 for his 'absolutely ridiculous' taunting penalty last week vs. the Carolina Panthers, a league source familiar with the situation confirmed to IndyStar. It was first reported by the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Pelissero noted that, despite the criticism of the call, the NFL would not have fined LeMay if it didn't feel his actions fell within the new point of emphasis for taunting calls this season.

According to CBS Baltimore, a player who hasn't played a season in the NFL, such as LeMay, is paid $850 a week for training camp.
