NEW YORK – Astros center fielder Carlos Gomez, who missed the season-ending three-game series against the Diamondbacks while nursing his left intercostal strain, expects to start Tuesday night in the Wild Card game against the Yankees.
“The plan is to play tomorrow,” he said. “I’ve prepared myself. I had some days of rest to play tomorrow. I’ll come ready to play tomorrow, to start the game tomorrow. That’s what I’m prepared for. That’s based on what they’re telling me.”
Gomez hit soft toss in the indoor batting cage, played catch and ran Monday during the Astros’ workout at Yankee Stadium.
