What you get out of Twitter starts with the accounts you follow. If you're a Packers fan, here are 11 accounts you should be following for up-to-date news and sometimes just some good old-fashioned humor.
Current Players:
Aaron Rodgers - @AaronRodgers12
Although Aaron does not tweet at all during the NFL season, he is a great follow in the offseason. His Twitter battles with former Packer tight end Tom Crabtree and fictional golfer Shooter McGavin from the film Happy Gilmore are the stuff of legend. Rodgers is normally rather reserved, but for those who can't get enough of their favorite QB, this account is a good place to look.
Josh Sitton - @jsitton71
Sitton is one of the more active Packers players on Twitter, and is a great follow for fans who like to see another side of the All-Pro lineman. His country background really comes through in his posts, which include a lot of hunting and outdoor photos.
Eddie Lacy - @Lil_Eazy_Ana_42
Lacy won the hearts of many Packers fans through his play on the field in his rookie year, but his Twitter presence is another reason he has become so popular. With over 17 thousand tweets credited to his profile, Lacy definitely makes a point to connect with his fans. Follow him and shoot him a tweet and you may just get a reply from the All-Pro back.
Packers Writers:
Jason Wilde - @jasonjwilde
Wilde is a senior writer at ESPN Wisconsin as well as a radio personality alongside Aaron Rodgers in their radio show titled "Tuesdays With Aaron." Wilde is a reliable source who provides breaking news and analysis as well as insight into the Packer organization. He is a great follow for anyone who wants to be one of the first to know about all things Green Bay Packers.
Rob Demovsky - @RobDemovsky
Demovsky is another talented Packers writer with a strong presence on Twitter as well. He also often holds Packers chats and answers questions from his followers about the team. Follow him for insider access you can't get from many other outlets.
BWD Radio Promotions - @bwdpromotions
BWD Promotions is an account for a radio program directed at Packers fans that is co-hosted by Packers running back DuJuan Harris. They also occasionally do giveaways and promotions as the handle suggests. They also follow back, so for those looking to grow their follower account this is a good place to look.
Parody/Fan Accounts:
"Aaron Rodgers" - @NOtAaronRodgers
Although @NOtAaronRodgers presents a sarcastic caricature of the Packer gunslinger, it also does some significant charity work with its platform. To date, the account has raised over 16 thousand dollars for the MACC fund, a charity for childhood cancer research that the real Aaron Rodgers supports as well. Follow this account for jokes about Jay Cutler and the rest of the NFC North, but also to support a worthy cause.
"Mike McCarthy" - @NOtMikeMcCarthy
Another great parody account is @NOtMikeMcCarthy, which is a bit more subtle yet still very hilarious account. "McCarthy's" account is so popular in part because he uses some actual jargon that the head coach is known to use in his press conferences, such as "our football team." It is one of few parody accounts that reads like the real person actually runs it.
"Clay Matthews' Ego" - @ClayMatthewsEgo
Clay Matthews is one of the Packers' biggest stars, and he's taken advantage of his performance to turn into a national marketing star as well. Although he does a pretty good job of hiding it, it is not hard to imagine Clay has a bit of an ego. This account makes all the politically incorrect tweets that we all secretly wish athletes would post once in awhile in rather unapologetic fashion.
Content Aggregators:
Hash Off Packers - @HashOffPackers
Hash Off Packers is a great account to follow for what is trending on Twitter in terms of Packers content and analysis. They keep track of the "Packers" hashtag and give shout-outs for tweets that get the most retweets. Follow them and use #Packers to see if you can be their top tweeter of the day.
Chat Packers - @ChatPackers
Chat Packers pulls Packers and general NFL news from a variety of sources around the web and consolidates them into one account, much like the Chat Sports website. Also like its parent site, Chat Packers generates its own content and interacts with its fans to provide more than the traditional news aggregator.
