Warriors team president Rick Welts said Friday that because of recent litigation filed by arena opponents, the team is backing up its planned San Francisco arena opening date one full season, to fall of 2019.
That means the Warriors will be playing at Oracle Arena at least through the 2018-19 season -- three more seasons after this one -- instead of the original plans to depart by the summer of 2018."Today we're officially announcing that the arena will be opening in 2019 rather than 2018 in light of the litigation the Mission Bay alliance recently filed," Welts told this newspaper's Tim Kawakami on "The TK Show" podcast.
