Derek Mason said a perception exists that the SEC is a cheating conference. He doesn't think that is the case at all.
Having spent the past two days with his comrades at this year's SEC spring meetings, Mason, unprompted, wanted to point out his belief of how the conference he coaches in operates. Asked a question about college football staff sizes, Mason went out of his way to deny the notion the SEC bends the rules on particular items.
“Nobody's cheating in this conference,” Mason said. “Everybody's doing it the right way.”
This particular quote was said near the end of a question about the size of support football staffs, and whether having an unlimited amount of people working for a team, compared to a smaller institution, is fair or not.
