The Florida Gators already boast one of the top recruiting classes in the country, but they're far from done, making a strong push as we're just one day away from National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 3. Here's all the latest news and rumors you need to know:
Shavar Manuel will sign with Gators
Four-star defensive tackle Shavar Manuel, who committed to Florida nearly a month ago, raised eyebrows when he took an official visit to Florida State last weekend, causing many to wonder if he would flip his commitment on Signing Day. However, Manuel says that's not the case.
“Right now, it’s pretty solid, but I just took that last visit because it was an opportunity,” Manuel answered. “But, that’s that with that. Like I said, I’m pretty solid right now at this moment, and as of right now I will sign with Florida.”
Manuel is ranked as the No. 9 defensive tackle and No. 67 overall prospect in the country. Read more about Florida football in the Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps.
Kristian Fulton still wavering between Florida, LSU
Five-star cornerback Kristian Fulton is one of the highest-ranked uncommitted prospects in the country, and he is deciding between Florida and LSU on Signing Day with no clear favorite. The Gators can offer Fulton immediate playing time, and while that's less likely at LSU, but his father has made it clear that he think LSU would be the best place for him. Fulton doesn't appear to be leaning either way at this time, making it a true toss-up on Signing Day.
Florida emerging as legitimate threat to land four-star WR
Four-star wideout Tyrie Cleveland (Houston, TX) took an official visit to Florida this past weekend, and came away so impressed that the Gators have reportedly moved into his top two. Via 247sports:
"Following this past weekend’s visit, we hear Cleveland himself has Florida and TCU as his top two. However, he still has family that are very adamant about Arkansas and still want him to pick the Razorbacks. Cleveland is still committed to Houston, but we are told to expect him to back off that pledge officially on Tuesday. Though, that commitment has been extremely shaky for weeks and we've heard multiple times in the past week that a decommitment was imminent."
Cleveland is ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver and No. 33 overall prospect in the country.
