The college football season doesn't start for roughly two months, giving the Florida Gators plenty of time to focus on recruiting. They have taken advantage of that time, and it's already paid off with 10 commitments - but the Gators are far from done. Here are the latest news and rumors surrounding Florida football recruiting.
Top LB plans to visit Gators
Four-star linebacker Anthony Hines (Plano, TX), the top inside linebacker in the 2017 class, told 247sports that he plans to make a visit to Gainesville on July 19.
"I'm going to try to make it out to Florida, back out to A&M and Texas, as well," Hines said. "I've been talking to coach (Randy) Shannon and coach (Geoff) Collins and coach (Jim) McElwain as well, so they've been trying to get me out there for a while, so finally it's able to happen."
Hines says he plans to visit for a few days, but will not stay for their Friday Night Lights event on July 22.
Florida still pursuing Miami commit
Four-star athlete Christopher Henderson (Miami, FL) committed to Miami months ago when Mark Richt took over the program, but he is still listening to other schools. One of those is Florida, who has not relented on their pursuit of him:
“They are still on me hard, just as much as Miami,” Henderson said. “Almost every night I talk to coach Torrian Gray, the head coach, and I talk to Randy Shannon a lot too. They know how to treat me right and I would do really great there.
“It’s a real close battle between them. I can’t really choose yet. I’m still deciding. It’s just the bond and how Florida has been recruiting me and stuff.”
Henderson is ranked as the No. 14 athlete and No. 243 overall prospect in the country.
