Your Florida football recruiting news update for September 18th:
The Florida Gators extended an offered to four-star Houston (TX) Westfield quarterback Dillon Sterling-Cole back in May. Near the top of the team's recruiting board for the Class of 2016 early in the process, it appears he's now vaulted to the top of the list for the Gators and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.
Per Luke Stampini of 247Sports, "Sterling-Cole’s father played at Texas A&M, so it’s natural to think the Aggies factor into this recruitment, which they do. However, the team that appears to have Sterling-Cole’s attention the most in recent weeks is Arizona State. Despite those two serious contenders, Florida’s staff feels confident a visit to Gainesville from Sterling-Cole will shake up his recruitment and move the Gators up his list quickly."
Sterling-Cole is a hard commit to Arizona State at the present moment. Regardless, the 10th-ranked pro-style quarterback in the nation (per 247Sports) remains at the top of Florida's wishlist, per multiple sources close to the program.
