After losing 42-7 to rival Georgia yesterday, and looming questions on truthfullness of his claims of being a target of death threats, Florida has fired football coach Jim McElwain, according to Football Scoop.

There was a meeting this morning between the Florida administration and McElwain to discuss legal implications and buyout. We will have more on this situation as it develops today. ESPN reported yesterday that Florida officials were looking into firing McElwain with cause, thus getting out of a nearly $13 million buyout.
