Byron Cowart, the No. 1 defensive end in the class and the top overall prospect in the ESPN 300 from Seffner, FL, has committed to Auburn over Florida.
His relationship with former Gators head coach Will Muschamp, now Auburn's defensive coordinator, is thought to be one of the major factors in his decision.
However, the drama isn't over.
Before his announcement, there were reports Cowart had signed Letters of Intent with both schools, and his commitment isn't finalized until it's faxed to a school.
Assuming he honors his announcement, the Tigers will be getting a player who is expected to make an immediate impact rushing the passer. He has supreme explosiveness and speed that's scary at 6'4" and 250 pounds.
