DES MOINES, Iowa — The Grand Blue Mile Presented by Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield returned to Downtown Des Moines on April 23 for another installment of the men's & women's USATF 1 Mile Road Championships and the Grand Blue Mile recreational and competitive divisions.
The night commenced with the Iowa Kidstrong Fun Run followed by nearly 2,400 participants in the recreational division. Herky the Hawk from the University Iowa ran away with the title in the Mascot Madness Charity Challenge. The men's and women's competitive divisions were next and featured some strong contenders on both sides.
