With Tony Romo out once again with a broken collarbone, the Dallas Cowboys called Kellen Moore up from the practice squad earlier this week. Moore will backup starter Matt Cassel, as the Cowboys will play Cassel with the hopes of finding a way to make the playoffs in the awful NFC East.
Moore is the backup, but he's ready for action if the team needs him. Moore has spent time with the Cowboys and Detroit Lions, but has yet to take a snap in an NFL game.
"If it comes to that I’ll be ready," Moore said. "Obviously I feel like it’s been a good week. It’s been nice just getting reps simply. It’s as simple as that. Just getting out there and playing."
If the Cowboys continue to struggle under Cassel, who has failed to win a game with Dallas, don't be surprised to hear calls for the team to start the 26-year old Moore. After all, there is little downside to switching to a younger QB if the playoffs aren't a reality.
"I guess backup quarterbacks are always everyone’s favorites anyway, right?" Moore said.
