The Dallas Cowboys are, once again, expected to release Tony Romo as they have been unable to find a trade partner for him. The Denver Broncos and Houston Texans are the two favorites to acquire Romo, but one of them may not be interested in doing so.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Broncos may not try to sign Romo on the open market:
Per @JamesPalmerTV, there is no guarantee the #Broncos will go after Tony Romo even if he’s a free agent. That’s interesting.

Broncos general manager John Elway recently told ProFootballTalk that he believes Paxton Lynch can be the team's franchise quarterback and that they don't think they need to add another quarterback to their roster.
Head coach Vance Joseph reiterated those comments at the NFL combine, saying Denver is "fine" with Lynch and Trevor Siemian on the roster. Lynch passed for 497 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in three games last season, including two starts.
If Denver is indeed out of the running, that makes the Texans the clear frontrunner in the Romo sweepstakes. In fact, ESPN's Ed Werder reported that was Romo's preferred destination anyway.
