The Dallas Cowboys are bringing in another defensive lineman for one of their 30 pre-draft visits. Michigan State DL Malik McDowell will visit the Cowboys this week, reports the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
McDowell measured 6-foot-6 and 295-pounds at the NFL combine, but posted solid athletic numbers. That size indicates he's a 3-technique (DT) or 5-technique (3-4 DE), but the Cowboys could play him at 4-3 DE as well.
McDowell has plenty of talent, and is a first round pick based on his upside. But, there are concerns around McDowell. He wasn't very productive at Michigan State (just 7.5 sacks) and said he wasn't coachable. Those are major concerns for NFL decision makers.
There's a solid chance McDowell is on the board for the Cowboys in Round 1, but he's more likely a Day 2 target. McDowell went in the early second round in the latest Chat Sports Mock Draft.
