The Dallas Cowboys cut QB Brandon Weeden earlier today, and the team released two additional players. RB Christine Michael and CB Corey White were both cut Tuesday afternoon.
Ian Rapoport says the move to cut White and Michael was for playing and locker room reasons.
The release of Michael comes not long after the Seattle Seahawks shipped Michael to Dallas for a late round pick. It was a conditional late-rounder, but Dallas didn't get much out of Michael. In the five games he played, Michael had 15 carries for 51 yards. None of his carries went for more than 13 yards. The Cowboys' conditional pick was based on Michael playing unspecified number of games, so Dallas might not end up sending a pick to Seattle.
The release of Michael leaves Darren McFadden as the only running back on the Cowboys active roster with a carry this season. Also on the roster at running back are Rod Smith and Trey Williams. Smith was signed in mid-October after the Seahawks cut him. Williams was signed off the Washington Redskins' practice squad when the team released running back Joseph Randle in early November.
White hadn't played much this season. The reserve defensive back had six tackles and three pass breakups this year.
With the release of White, the Cowboys are down to four cornerbacks in Brandon Carr, Morris Claiborne, Tyler Patmon and Byron Jones. Deji Olatoye is also on the practice squad. With open spots on the roster, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Cowboys add a new corner.
