Allen Hurns’ release saves the Cowboys about $5 million. It’s a smart move by the Cowboys, because Hurns simply wasn’t worth that price tag. It also opens up a roster spot for another Cowboys WR. It’s good Cowboys news for Tavon Austin, Lance Lenoir, Noah Brown, Cedrick Wilson, Jon’Vea Johnson and other wide outs on the Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys released WR Allen Hurns today after he spent one year with the team. Hurns suffered a gruesome broken leg in the NFL Playoffs last year against the Seattle Seahawks.

Hurns caught 20 passes for 295 yards with the Cowboys in 2018. His lowest career production after coming over from Jacksonville. Coming off the injury, it was expected that Hurns was on the roster bubble with a $6.25 MM cap hit. The Cowboys save $5 MM by releasing him.
