The Dallas Cowboys are 6-5, and currently sit at fourth in the NFC. A majority of their games have been decided by just a few points, like their most recent win against the New York Giants.
Dallas has been having a very up and down season, and their remaining opponents could make for tough matchups.
Let's take a look at what the Cowboys need to do to make sure they end up in the playoffs - here are predictions for the rest of their schedule:
Oakland Raiders (Home): The Raiders are 4-7, and have only won one away game. This season, they've defeated Phillip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger at home, but have really struggled on the road. The Cowboys should be able to pull off a win against the Raiders in Dallas. They have Miles Austin back out on the field, which gives Tony Romo another target - which should work to their advantage against Oakland's beat-up secondary.
Chicago Bears (Away): The Bears are 6-5 and ninth in the NFC. They're missing their starting quarterback, Jay Cutler, and this may give the Cowboys enough of an edge to beat the Bears in Chicago. If the Cowboys' defense can pack on the pressure against backup quarterback, Josh McCown, then it could be a close game. The Bears have a tough defense that Tony Romo will have to handle in order to win.
Green Bay Packers (Home): The Packers have a 5-5-1 record. That's right, the Packers tied against the Vikings in the first (and so far, only) tie this year. Without Aaron Rodgers, the Packers have been struggling. It's unknown whether Rodgers will return against Dallas or not - if he doesn't, this game could be close, but if Rodgers is cleared to play, the Cowboys will have a very tough time coming away from this one with a win.
Washington Redskins (Away): The Redskins are 3-8 this season. There have been tensions on and off the field in Washington, and the team can't seem to find a rhythm. The Cowboys have already defeated the Redskins this year in Dallas, and they should be able to do it again on the road. The only way the Redskins would have a chance is if RGIII and the rest of the team can start to work together.
Philadelphia Eagles (Home): The Eagles are 6-5 this season, but are riding a three-game winning streak. Nick Foles has stepped in as the quarterback in place of Michael Vick, and has been an explosive game-changer. This could be the Cowboy's toughest game on their remaining schedule, although it's at home. The defense will have to step up their game, and the offense must put up high numbers to take down the Eagles.
With how unpredictable the Cowboys have been this season, it's hard to predict how the remainder of their season will play out. They'll face some tough matchups, but they'll take on three of those teams at home. Dallas has to avoid mistakes late in the game and play well from start to finish in order to come up with the wins they need to make the playoffs in the suddenly-dangerous NFC East. If they can take care of business at home, the Cowboys should get the wins they need to reach the postseason.
