The Dallas Cowboys have waived Michael Sam from their practice squad.
Sam spent seven weeks on the Cowboys' 10-man practice squad, but was never called up to the 53-man roster. Sam made history back in April when the St. Louis Rams made him the NFL's first openly gay draft pick, but the Rams released him on August 30 during their final round of cuts.
The Cowboys then signed Sam to their practice squad on September 3.
Dallas made the cut in order to clear space for LB Troy Davis, a second-year player out of Central Florida who they worked out earlier this week.
