Show of hands...who expected Matt Hasselbeck and Brandon Weeden to play out the fourth quarter after a one-sided first half? In a game where Tony Romo and the Cowboys finally looked like real contenders in December, the Colts lost some momentum in a meaningless, but discouraging game for Indianapolis.
Turning Point:
This game was effectively over at halftime, with Dallas taking a 28-0 lead into the break. Tony Romo's fourth touchdown pass of the day (a 25-yard strike to TE Jason Witten) put the Cowboys up 35-0 midway through the third quarter, but that was really just icing on the cake.
Cowboys MVP:
This was a comprehensive performance, but it all comes back to Tony Romo. Romo was near-perfect today, completing 18/20 passes for 4 TDs and no INTs before resting through the fourth quarter.
Stat of the Day:
Remember how Tony Romo is supposed to be terrible in December? Apparently, Romo is just as tired of that narrative as the fans are, and he now has 10 touchdown passes with zero interceptions in December 2014.
What's Next?
The Colts (10-5) had already clinched their division title, but they'll need to pick things up next week against Tennessee if they want to take any momentum into the playoffs. The Cowboys (now 11-4) effectively clinched the NFC East with this win and Philadelphia's loss, but they won't take next weekend off with a road game against the Washington Redskins, a team that would love nothing more than to rain on their parade.
