In a tense, cagey game at AT&T Stadium, the Cowboys survived in overtime thanks to solid performances from their playmakers and unheralded defense.
Texans RB Arian Foster had an incredible game, almost single-handedly willing the game to overtime, but he couldn't get on the field to stop the Cowboys as they rolled downfield for the game-winning field goal.
Turning Point: Dez Bryant's stunning, seemingly impossible catch in overtime. While being virtually bear-hugged by a Texans DB, Bryant juggled the catch before hauling it in, and the play moved the Cowboys into field goal range for Dan Bailey.
Key Stat: The Cowboys will feel like this one could have been much more comfortable, and their three turnovers all came at extremely unhelpful times. Dallas overcame a -2 turnover differential today, but that won't be easy against teams with more cohesive offenses.
Cowboys MVP: While DeMarco Murray and Tony Romo were on point, we have to give it to Dez Bryant. Bryant's touchdown catch put the Cowboys up 17-7, and he came up huge in overtime with a highlight-reel catch that effectively won Dallas the game.
Texans MVP: Arian Foster (23 carries for 157 yards and 2 TDs) has to be the Texans MVP today, although LB Brian Cushing certainly gets an honorable mention. Foster was exceptional, and despite the loss, the Texans will be thrilled that their All-Pro RB has returned to form.
What’s Next? Dallas is now 4-1, a massively impressive feat considering the preseason doubts and terrible opening-week performance. They'll travel to Seattle for a tough matchup against the defending champions, but their recent success has given them some badly-needed breathing room. Houston, now 3-2, has a chance to gain ground in the AFC South against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football.
