Detroit looked like they were going to run away in this one as they took a quick 14-0 lead early in the first quarter. Dallas managed to get on the board in the second quarter with a 76-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Williams, but still trailed 17-7 at the half.
However, the Cowboys continued their surge, and scored the last 17 points of the game to grab the dramatic come-from-behind victory.
Turning Point:
Dallas converted a 4th-and-6 with six minutes to play while trailing 20-17, extending what turned out to be the game-winning drive. If they didn't convert, they would've set up the Lions in great position to extend their lead and probably win the game.
Key Stat:
The Lions scored touchdowns on each of their first two drives, but failed to punch the ball into the end zone from that point on. That kept the Cowboys in the game, and eventually came back to haunt Detroit.
Dallas MVP:
Wideout Terrance Williams gave the Cowboys the spark they needed on offense, catching three passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner.
Detroit MVP:
Quarterback Matthew Stafford was productive all night, throwing for 323 yards and touchdown while completing passes to eight different receivers while almost pulling off a game-winning drive of his own in the last two minutes.
What’s Next?
Dallas advances to the Divisional Round of the playoffs and will face the Packers in Green Bay next Sunday, while the loss ends the Lions' season.
