In the world of Dallas Cowboys rumors today, the Dallas Cowboys are exercising patience in regard to two of the most talked about possible salary cuts of this upcoming offseason.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys are mulling over the possibility of cutting defensive end DeMarcus Ware and wide receiver Miles Austin. Yet, as executive vice president Stephen Jones stated yesterday, nothing is set in stone--
“We’re still gathering all of our information and getting the lay of the land. Obviously, DeMarcus had a hell of a career, but when we’re in the cap situation that we’re in and obviously counting as much as he is obviously you have to look at it along with several others."
It is rumored that the Dallas Cowboys are going to be near $25 million over the NFL's designated salary ceiling for next year. If the Dallas Cowboys were to cut both DeMarcus Ware and Miles Austin (designating Austin as a June 1st cut), they would receive about $24.25 million in cap relief.
The Dallas Cowboys executive vice president also stated that he does not plan to meet with either Ware or Austin's agents at this time, as he says the Dallas Cowboys are "still discussing it" in regard to what their actual plan is for the two veterans going forward.
