Cowboys Rumors: Darren McFadden Excited For "Fresh Start" In Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys signed former Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden to a two-year deal on Friday, complete with a photo session involving McFadden and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

“Being able to sit in his office is a dream come true for me,” McFadden said in an interview with DallasCowboys.com, via the Dallas Morning News. “I grew up a Cowboys fan. To go in there and put my name on that piece of paper and make it official, I loved it.

“I’m very excited to get here, mesh with my new teammates and get this thing going.”

McFadden failed to live up to the lofty expectations in Oakland that came with being the fourth overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft, but he expects that the Cowboys' massive offensive line will do the trick for helping him realize some of that potential.

“I like to get down hill,” McFadden said. “That’s the first thing I see when I look at film, the offensive line is getting there and they’re opening holes. Once they open the hole, I’m going to hit it and get going down hill."

McFadden is the marquee name so far of a stable of running backs tasked with replacing 2014 NFL rushing champion DeMarco Murray, who signed with the Eagles earlier this week. However, all McFadden's thinking about now is the chance to start things over in the Big D.

“It’s a fresh start,” McFadden said. “Being here in Dallas, it couldn’t have been a better place.”
