The Dallas Cowboys have approached cornerback Brandon Carr to discuss him taking a possible pay cut, according to ESPN.
Carr has an $8 million salary that will count $12.7 million against the salary cap in 2015. If he does not take a pay cut, the Cowboys have plans to release him.
Dallas signed Carr to a five-year, $50 million deal three seasons ago that made him one of the highest paid cornerbacks in the league.
The Cowboys are trying to find cap room to re-sign both start wide receiver Dez Bryant and running back DeMarco Murray while still having some financial flexibility. Morris Claiborne's $2.6 million salary is fully guaranteed, which limits the team's options.
