Cowboys News Update: Mo Claiborne is "ready" to make an impact

In today's Cowboys news update, the Dallas Cowboys have been waiting for cornerback Mo Claiborne to blossom to the star befitting of the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

After amassing two interceptions in his first two seasons and missing six games last year due to a hamstring injury, Claiborne is confident that it's time for him to justify the commitment the Cowboys made in him.

"I'm ready," Claiborne said, via Todd Archer of ESPN.com. "Hands down, point blank, I'm ready. I feel better than I've ever felt in a long time. I'm just anxious for you guys to start asking me something else: What about the interception you made? I'm ready for those type questions."

Claiborne's arrival to Dallas was accompanied by a great deal of fanfare. The team traded up in order to acquire him and immediately stated that he was the best pure defensive back the team has had since Deion Sanders.

Saddled with the weight of those expectations, Claiborne struggled in 2013 - losing his job to Orlando Scandrick. He's still not assured of getting it back.

However, Claiborne is putting in the work to make it happen. He has circled star receiver Dez Bryant as a guy he needs to work against, both in offseason activities and in July's training camp.

"Me and him talked about it before we even started up that we want to be the best and we want to go against each other," Claiborne stated. "We feel like we both compete at a high level. I get good work when I go against him and it's vice versa. When I'm not up there, he's telling me to come. We're trying to help each other so we can be the best for our team."
