Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo had a rough Thanksgiving Day to say the least, going 18-of-29 for 199 yards with zero touchdown passes and two interceptions in the team's 33-10 home loss to the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.
Romo's 53.7 passer rating in Thursday's contest was his worst since the 2011 NFL season.
Regardless of all of that, Cowboys offensive play-caller Scott Linehan is sure that Romo is due for a bounce-back game against the Chicago Bears on this week's edition of Thursday Night Football.
“100 percent confident,” Linehan said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “Quarterbacks aren’t going to have A-games every week. You’re going to have a couple games that aren’t as good as others. I love his experience and the fact that he’s been through that. He’s had a really good season for us and we as an offense, we as a team, didn’t have one of our better days last week."
Linehan continued to deflect the blame away from Romo, putting the onus on the entire offense to rebound versus Chicago.
“It has nothing to do with anything other than we’ve all got to do our part better and step up better," Linehan asserted. "Tony is a great, experienced veteran leader for us. We know he’s going to come ready to play the next game after a game like that.”
