In Cowboys news today, a longtime member of the Dallas Cowboys defensive line is calling it quits after almost a decade of time spent playing in the NFL.
Former Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears had made the decision to retire from the NFL after nine seasons in the league. The SEC Network indirectly broke the news of Spears' retirement today, by announcing that Spears and former Buccaneer/Colt Booger McFarland will be joining the network as studio personalities --

Spears took to Twitter shortly after to express his gratefulness to the SEC Network for helping him to make a smooth transition out of being an active NFL player --
I've been holding this in for a while my people so excited and truly blessed to be apart of the @SECNetwork

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Marcus Spears 10th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft in hopes that Spears would act as a solid pass-rushing compliment to former Cowboys star DeMarcus Ware.
However, Spears never emerged as a true threat in the pass rush, only amassing 10 total sacks for his entire career -- losing Spears his starting role with the Cowboys in 2010.
Spears left the Cowboys in 2012, and landed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013. He appeared in just five games, and started just once.
