The Dallas Cowboys have officially ruled defensive tackle Josh Brent out of Sunday's massive NFC East clash with the Philadelphia Eagles, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas.
Per Archer, "with two games left in the season, the Cowboys might not be able to wait for Brent to fully recover to play again." Whether or not this leads to a roster move soon is still up for interpretation.
Brent (calf) was listed as doubtful on Friday's injury report. He played in his first game in two years on December 4th against the Chicago Bears, posting two tackles in 22 snaps.
The Cowboys were hoping that Brent's sheer size would be of help in stifling a Philadelphia Eagles running game that amassed 256 yards in its 33-10 victory on Thanksgiving in Arlington. However, now the Cowboys will have to go with Plan B in hopes of maintaining the team's division title hopes.
