Cowboys News: Cowboys remain NFL's most valuable franchise at $3.2 billion

In this Cowboys news and rumors update, despite a frustrating four-year span that has produced zero postseason appearances and zero winning records, the Dallas Cowboys have retained their position as the NFL's most valuable franchise, per Forbes Magazine.

The Dallas Cowboys have been valued at $3.2 billion, $600 million more than their nearest competition, the New England Patriots ($2.6 billion). The Washington Redskins and New York Giants round out the $2 billion club heading into the 2014 season.

According to Forbes' Mike Ozanian, the Cowboys are in rarefied air not only in regards to NFL franchises, but in relation to the entirety of professional sports:

For the eighth consecutive year the Dallas Cowboys, worth $3.2 billion, are the league’s most valuable team. The only sports team worth more is Real Madrid, valued at $3.4 billion, while another Spanish soccer team, Barcelona, is tied with the Cowboys. Despite making only three postseason appearances over past decade, the Cowboys posted the NFL’s highest revenue ($560 million) and operating income ($246 million) in 2013.

Add in two new deals with a luxury watch brand (Hublot) and a luxury cruise liner brand (Carnival) - two industries that the NFL has had trouble tapping in the past - and things are looking even better heading to the future for the league's most valuable franchise.
